Book Cover Design Contest – Win $250!
To help promote a new book exploring the similarities between Jesus Christ and Harry Potter, we’re holding a theme art competition. Any medium (digital art or photomanipulation is fine) using any combination or showing some interaction between these two characters admitted.
“Jesus Potter Harry Christ” is a theme that begs visual expression – we want to see your brilliant design ideas and concepts. All entries will be displayed on JPHC’s Facebook, Flickr and website pages, along with name of the artist and optional link to your website.
Moreover, one lucky entry may be chosen as the book cover and enjoy a great deal of exposure – along with $250 bucks! Deadline is August 22nd.
Rules and Details:
1) Entries can be art/design works using any medium (digital/photomanipulation is OK too).
2) Entries should include some reference to the two characters, such as a merging, combination of, or interaction between Jesus and Harry.
3) Cannot use copyrighted material (images of Harry Potter from J.K. Rowling’s books or images of Daniel Radcliffe are prohibited.)
4) Particularly interested in dark, traditional Jesus iconography (byzantine style) or light, fun cartoon/finger puppet versions.
5) Was also thinking of making the cover a ‘cut-out doll’ template so that the book comes with a free cutout, 3D free standing, Jesus-Harry paper figure.
6) Feel free to design the actual cover, including the title, etc – but if you do so please also send a clean file with just the image.
7) Images for the cover must be high-res, around 8”hx6”w/300dpi – however smaller images will still be accepted and added to our gallery.
Deadline and Results:
1) Deadline is August 22nd.
2) All entries will be displayed on the JPHC Facebook, Flickr and website pages.
3) Top 10 artists will be featured, and listed as ‘honorary mention’ inside the book.
4) Chosen book cover artist will be given $250 top prize and listed inside the book’s title page.
5) Results posted Sept. 10th.
6) In the event that none of the pictures are chosen as the cover, we will use our current working cover – but a winner will still be picked to win the cash prize.
